Not very important when first buying the vehicle, but the most important when trying to get rid of it. Here are two simple and easy ways to help maintain a higher resale value for your car, in order to help get the best deal when it is time to search for a new source of transportation.

One of the simplest is being a cautious driver, the less dents and scratches on a car the more money you can expect to get for its flawlessness. It is hard to stop some of natures accidents, like the typical dings you would get from leaving your car parked outside in the grocery parking lot, but using a car cover when a vehicle is going to be parked for an extensive amount of time, will greatly decrease the chances for any dings or scratches that may or may not happen.

The number one cause for vehicle depreciation are dents and scratches, so remember, taking care of the outside appearance is just as important as maintaining its performance. On that note, Vehicle Maintenance, should be just as important as how immaculate the outside of the vehicle looks. Neglecting any general service a vehicle may need, can lead to future problems with the vehicle and less money in your pocket when it is time to get a new one.

Following the owners manual and receiving the proper services at the correct interval can add a big chunk of change to the vehicles resale value, keeping records of the services performed, establishes to the next owner that the vehicle has been well taken care of and is up to date with all recommended services from the manufacturer.

There are several other ways to warrant a better resale value, but none seem as easy and none add a higher dollar amount to the resale value then these two ways. In conclusion, The better the outside appearance is, and a well kept record of all maintenances performed on the vehicle, are two of the simplest ways to ensure a higher resale value.

Sooner or later everyone needs to sell their car. Maybe you have your eye on a newer, nicer car. Maybe you need a better commuting car, a car with a lot of space for work materials. Maybe you need a car that is more fuel efficient. Or maybe you just need a change. There days there are countless reasons for wanting to sell your car.

The thing is, your car is only worth what it is worth to a buyer. Buyers of today have numerous ways to figure out the value of an automobile. There are numerous services available on the internet which can, with some degree of preciseness, determine the value of your car. Each of these services require the make and model of a car and the options it has. Once that information is noted the service provides you with a range of what your car is worth.

So how do you maximize the value of your car to a buyer? Simple. Two easy steps will make your automobile worth more than a like vehicle: First, the outside of your car needs to be as attractive as you can make it.

Second, when you are finished working on the outside of your car, turn your attention to the inside. Once both the inside and outside are sparkling clean your car’s value will be increased dramatically. It would be nice to have the car cleaned and detailed, but that costs money you might not want to spend. Still, a few bucks at a local auto store can get you the cleaning materials that will make your car look like new.

Wash and wax the vehicle, spending extra time on the windows and tires. Yes, buff the wax into the car to give it that new vehicle shine that will create an excellent first impression. Once it is clean turn your attention to the inside of the car. If you have a crack in the windshield contact your insurance company because most will cover the cost of replacing it for a small co-pay. Nothing impacts a car more than its look on the outside than the look and smell of the inside of the car. Again, clean it up!

Get rid of any and all dirt and grime. Then pay close attention to the smell of the car. If you are a smoker, that will be a bad thing on your car’s value, so make sure you clean the smoking and any other smell to ensure it has the scent of a new vehicle. Clean under the seats, the glove compartment and especially the trunk. A little extra time spent cleaning will add dollars of resale value.

Obviously, you can’t correct the high mileage you might have nor a tear in a seat. But if you spend a little time cleaning your car and making it look like new you undoubtedly will get top dollar for it as compared to a similarly looking but poorly maintained vehicle.

This seems to become an option after the novelty of that particular car wears off, or another one becomes more interesting. Even if you don’t feel you will ever be in a position to resell your vehicle, plan ahead and keep it in the best shape possible so you will have the option. With careful planning it really doesn’t take much work to maintain your car. If you follow these tips, it will be easy to answer the question how much is my car worth?

First and foremost you will want to keep it in top running condition. It goes without saying that this is not only critical for resale but for your current use. Being aware that problems may be surfacing with the mechanics of the car will lead you to getting it assessed and repaired before it becomes more serious. Consider preventative measures such as proper maintenance such as oil changes and tune up on a regular basis.

Next you will want to take care of the body. Even a car with a perfectly sound engine will not be an easy or profitable resell if the body is in poor condition. Make it a habit to thoroughly wash the vehicle on a regular basis particularly in the car is operated in a harsh climate where salt is used in the winter. If it’s a new car you may want to consider having the undercarriage rust proofed.

Keep a close eye on a minor chips or scratches that may occur. Left untreated these can develop into some rather nasty rust areas or at the very least cause the paint to chip. If you are unfortunate enough to get involved in some minor fender benders, don’t leave the damage to go unattended. A minor repair can often escalate into major expenses if you’re not careful.

Try to keep the vehicle in a sheltered location. This will prevent damage from the elements and even less likely to attract vandalism. Even if you don’t have a permanent garage on today’s market there is a wide range of portable shelters available.

Next be sure to pay attention to the interior. Seat covers are ideal for preventing normal wear and tear, particularly on leather upholstery. Be sure to treat and leather and vinyl in the interior to prevent it from drying out and cracking. Vacuum the entire interior on a regular basis to prevent everyday smog and odors from accumulating. These can cause some awful odors. Especially do not allow smoking in your car. These odors seem to penetrate all of the interior and are extremely difficult to dispose of.
